Artist:Landon Lloyd Miller Landon Lloyd Miller is a singer/songwriter from the Southern United States. He has an interesting voice with an unusual tone and a nice vibrato. He plays a variety of instruments including piano, guitar and harmonica in clearly what is largely a home-produced album. He introduces other elements such as horns, bass and drums on songs such as 'Light is Growing' however, I found his music most appealing when it's stripped back on the haunting piano-based 'String My Love Down' and the acoustic guitar picked 'Landslide'. On these tracks, his unusual voice has a really haunting quality, on some of the other tracks the sound feels a bit too reverbed and muddy to distinguish the individual qualities of the instruments clearly. Recording is always a 'learning process' and Landon definitely has a voice and I feel that this should be the centrepiece of what he's trying to communicate.
He has the potential to become a Jason Isbell as he matures and his writing develops. There are hints of this on the beautiful 'light shines through' where the violin really compliments Landon's melody. So in summation, a promising debut with an interesting and unique vocal style. As his writing matures and encompasses a greater range of themes, I think that Landon will become a name to watch out for.
