Alison is a solo ukulele/vocalist from Liverpool. She describes herself as being inspired by Simon Garfunkel and the Beatles. The album is recorded very cleanly and simply with minimal reverb show casing Alison's solo live performance and it's very effective. She has a lovely voice and you can hear a very subtle breezy Scouse character shining through. 'Silent Link' is a strong love song and the melody leaves you humming it after the final chord disperses. In 'Lily' she celebrates her working class roots in more of a folky style with a touch of Kate Rusby. It is a catchy tune, strummed with high octane energy.
In 'Time Never Stops', Alison picks the ukulele very capably before returning to strumming and celebrating the memory of her aunt and uncle in 'Take the Night'. It reminded me of my Dad beavering away in the garage in the 1970's at his carpentry and Mum working at her needlework when we made our own things, I could really relate to this track.
In the final track 'Time Never Knows', Alison finished off the EP by a contemplative tune with a nice melody 'Pale Imitation'. The accuracy of her pitching is impressive, I think that Alison would be a very powerful live performer. I sense that she'd perform in exactly the same manner she records - with accuracy and emotion. I recommend that you go and catch a gig if you can, you will enjoy her!
