Tony Christie released his latest album 'A New Life' earlier thsi year, here you will find some of his most loved songs re-imagined. Recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and backed by some of the best musicians Nashville had to offer.

The album features brand-new versions of some of his hits, including (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, I Did What I Did For Maria, Avenues & Alleyways and many more.

Tony tells us: "We set out to completely restructure and rearrange what are essentially great songs to begin with. We gave the musicians free rein to have fun and come up with something fresh. Some of the songs have been completely turned on their heads. I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we did recording it."

A New Life is certainly a collection of amazing hits which I'm sure we've all sung along to in the past. Knowing these songs so well we might approach the album with a little concern, why? Because who sings sad lyrics better than Tony to exceptionally upbeat, bouncy music, it's an art indeed which Christie is a master of.

So… the songs remixed? Slightly slower, more melancholic, the music befitting of the words, what! You might think, but no worries, relax, think again, settle yourself down and get ready to be blown away by the re-imagined recordings.

It's a wonderful album packed full of nostalgia, every track sung with empathy for the brilliance that each and every track already conveys.

Produced and mixed by long-time collaborator and Ivor Novello Award winner Graeme Pleeth, with mastering contribution from Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios and artwork by Gillian Martin

Extensive tour dates across the UK have been planned and you can view the dates and buy tickets via Tony Christie website.

My Favourites? On a different day it could be a different three, today it's these:

(Is This The Way To) Amarillo - A wonderful version of this track written in part by Neil Sedaka, with acoustic and slide guitars, it genuinely brings the Nashville feeling, allowing the lyrics to be re-experienced with emotion.

Sweet September Rain - A superb song that brings shades of grey in an opening burst of Charles Aznavour melancholy, but wait… off we bounce into the chorus, freeing you to forget that this is a song of love lost, never ever to be found again. This is Christie at his very best.

Mr Bojangles - Is there a sadder, more poignant song than this? The story telling is exemplary, the lyrics paint pictures that are vivid. the delivery is compassionate. Such a famous song where Christie performs in his cool, gorgeously comforting way. When I hear his voice, he makes me believe that everything will be alright in the end.
