Artist:Like Mint Susi Wittig is Like Mint. A German, by way of Minneapolis singer songwriter. She says of her new EP: "This record is about finding your own voice and looking back at times when you hadn't found it yet. 'I wish I was awake' is the realisation that many learning processes run like a dream. You wake up and see what you've been going through and what you've learned. And sometimes you wish you could have been stronger and more observant in these moments."
The sumptuous brass and strings of 'Ghost Of What We Know' overlays her delicate voice and guitar to produce something with a grandeur that reflects what she hopes to get across in the song. "When becoming an adult every person comes to the point of taking a closer look at their inner life and thinking about what to let go of or keep. For me, it was finding a new way of looking at the faith I had been growing up with and ultimately letting it go." 'Die Angst', sung in German, strips away the backing to leave a song with cymbal swells and quiet strings appearing and fading away as the song progresses.
While the other four songs don't quite live up that opening pair. 'Constantly Growing', exploring many of the same themes as 'Ghost Of What We Know' comes close. This is EP to give some time to and let its charms seep into your consciousness.
