You know that irritating advert in which a hopelessly self-conscious hipster strikes up with an equally too-cool-for-school lit-chick on a station. Yeh, match.com, that's the one. Well, the song is called The Girl on the Platform Smiled/She Began To Dance and it's by a young chap from Suffolk called Matthew P.

After co-writing with the likes of Iain Archer (Snow Patrol), The Hoosiers and Joel Pott (Athlete), Long Straight Lines is his first album in his own write and it's a collection of pop-leaning acoustica that is sure to find favour with real people - as well as folks like those in that advert.

Hey Lady adds chirpy piano and trumpet to Mr P's jaunty vocal and parched cool delivery as he strives to get his quarry to succumb to his daydreamy charms. Feet on the Ground might just be the sleeper hit of the summer if enough lone groovers get to hear it on the outskirts of festivals, parties, happenings and what have you.

Don't come here in search of mature thoughts on the nature of the universe. Do come here if you crave youthful exuberance, the creative blurring of boundaries and one of the sweetest listens your ears could wish for this summer.
