Adam White There are times when only a frothy coffee will do. It may have all the same ingredients as regular coffee, but it's a bit lighter and a bit more fun. The strength is still there and comes through, but there's just something a bit bubblier in the presentation and there are times when the same applies to music.
A good case in point is "The Age Of To And Fro", from new to me singer-songwriter, Adam White. Currently London base, but originally hailing from Barnsley, the four track EP has a folk, blues style, but it's done with an almost tingling guitar sound that gives a lighter quality to the delivery of the first two songs on the EP and gives the songs a list that makes them much quick to access. It also provides a gateway into a richer poppier sound, that had it been the opener, may have influenced the thought processes down a different path.
What it does reveal is an artist that is prepared to experiment with his sound, showing that he's not only comfortable with the very off the cuff, almost live sound, but also able to arrange material and perform with in a band setting.
Vocally White, has quite a laid back voice, though his northern accent gives it a certain gravitas and that feeling that both song and message have been carefully thought out and that the singer is clear about what they are trying to convey, whilst making sure it's done in a way that makes it interesting.
"The Age Of To And Fro" does a grand job of showcasing a singer-songwriter that is highly capable of using song to reflect wider aspect of social mores and deliver them in a style that makes them easy to feel and respond to
